Apple (Mary) - some sad news

I’ve just read that Mary (apple) has passed away. She had let us know from the beginning that she was quite ill; it was so nice that she came here to share some time/stories/poems with us.
My sympathies to her family, clearly so dear to her, and all who cared for her.

Oh dear, Cate, where did you read that? (EDIT: I just read it in that link you posted - I had seen it before and thought it was still the same.)
Yes, I knew she wasn't well, but .... oh my goodness! And her time on the forum was just beginning .....
Life is so very fragile! Every moment of every day is so precious.
My condolences to her family and friends:

A very sad loss of a very talented lady.
My heart goes out to all her family and friends, I hope they find comfort in each other...
Someone sent me this a long time ago and it came to mind when I read cates sad post.
The End Of The Road Is But A Bend In The Road
When we feel we have nothing left to give
And we are sure that the ‘song has ended’-
When our day seems over and the shadows fall
And the darkness of night has descended,
Where can we go to find the strength
To valiantly keep on trying,
Where can we find the hand that will dry
The tears that the heart is crying-
There’s but one place to go and that is to God
And, dropping all pretence and pride,
We can pour out our problems without restraint
And gain strength with Him at our side-
And together we stand at life’s crossroads
And view what we think is the end,
But God has a much bigger vision
And he tells us it’s only a bend-
For the road goes on and is smoother,
And the ‘pause in the song’ is a ‘rest,’
And the part that’s unsung and unfinished
Is the sweetest and richest and best-
So rest and relax and grow stronger,
Let go and let God share your load,
Your work is not finished or ended,
You’ve just come to ‘a bend in the road.’

Sad news, Cate. I enjoyed Apple's boho-ness and her piano playing was wonderful. Wish I had told her that... but anyways, I think she liked it here, for the short time.
xo to you all.

Never mind, I found it through your first link.
Sheila ~ I commented on her first link, but even though I watched and enjoyed her second one with her son, I didn't have the time to comment and never came back to it. Like you, I feel badly about that. I'm glad for the support she was given while she was here. Oh my gosh... how we never know.
Very very sad.

I got a message a few weeks ago from an old friend here who said I was suspected of being this new poster Apple. People are so weird. We were lucky for the brief acquaintance She was full of life, but not for long enough,

You're absolutely right, lonndubh.
It's a shame when you have to doubt something such as this.
I wasn't the one who contacted Michael; however, I shared the doubts of whoever it was that did.
It began with what I felt to be an insensitive response to someone with cancer.
It continued with some of the unusual attention that he paid to some of apple's postings... and the accompanying comments... as well as the nature of some of her postings.
Michael, you're so 'good' at taking on alternative identities that feigning such a one as this is unthinkable, but could still be true

. [I hope it's not a family member or friend of apple, who has checked into her account... but it just doesn't feel like it is.]

It's heart sinking either way... to think that someone would have created such a ruse; and to think that Mary was a real person who has just recently lost her life to cancer.

It's insulting that you even think of the possibility. My identities are fun and easy. This involved YouTube links and the like. I have never done that nor posted long life stories. There were some odd posts like her drawing of her son with a beard. I don't know whether she was real or not but I'm no fan of the whispering conspiracy theorists. They drain the life of a friendly community.

Hi Lizzy,
I would hate to think that apple was just another fictitious character round here. I hope it was someone close to her just logging in (although that does seem unlikely), but the alternative is unthinkable… I watched a friend of mine lose his battle with cancer a few years ago and I’m just going through the same thing again with another friend, and it’s not something to be taken lightly.
I know Michael gets blamed for a lot of the alter egos round here (That’s his own fault) but I don’t believe he’s responsible for this one, I don’t think he would do that.
From what I’ve read, Mary was a real person (as you can see from her Youtube clips) and she sounded like a very positive and supportive one, and whoever she was, my heart still goes out to all her family and friends.
As you said lizzy, it’s a shame when we have to doubt something like this!
I know they call this place the ‘Back room of the Forum’ but has it really sunk that low?... I hope not!

I'm also finding this heart sinking but I suspect for different reasons
To the best of my knowledge Mary was a real person, who really had cancer and who really died.
I believe, I hope, that she liked it here. I didn't know her very well but she struck me as the type of person I would like; she seemed joyfully quirky, a bit of a 'tell you like it is type' and somebody who really appreciated what she had. She seemed to like the poetry section (like I said a bit quirky )
she once said
. i really don't like the idea of even thinking of my demise.. much less the paralysis thing.... the thought of a wheel chair or hospital bed. What i like about you guys is that you don't constantly ask how i am. i have a couple other forums that really try my patience.
how are you
we love you
thinking about you apple.
we hope you are fine. blah blah blah blah blah.
I took it to mean that she didn't want to be fussed over or treated with kid gloves.

I don't know who logged onto apples account (it's certainly not heard of here) but I hope that it
was family. I know that on another forum her daughter logged unto her account to let her friends there know that she had passed away.

I wasn't spending much time around here when Apple came & went, but I send sympathy to all who knew & now miss her.
