Old Flames
I won’t play that game again
that left us so sick inside.
I am burdened with old sins
and hurts that failed to subside.
I certainly know you’re gone,
but your shadow haunts me still.
And my love still goes beyond
even those distant, majestic hills.
We live on the borderline here,
and we mark our time with pain.
I wonder still how it might appear
if I shoulder all of the blame.
I won’t play that game again
that left us so sick inside.
I am burdened with old sins
and hurts that failed to subside.
I certainly know you’re gone,
but your shadow haunts me still.
And my love still goes beyond
even those distant, majestic hills.
We live on the borderline here,
and we mark our time with pain.
I wonder still how it might appear
if I shoulder all of the blame.
