Has Leonard worked with the McGarrigle Sisters? Or does he at least know them? They have been recording since the 60s I believe. John Cale appeared on one of their albums. I was asking because they are based in Montreal.

I liked their songs on the Chieftains album but I found French Record and was let down. But Heartbeats Accelerating was pretty good.

Hi robertchao
He didn't work with them, but he must know them. They are regularly appearing at Hal Wilmer's Leonard Cohen tribute shows, along with Nick Cave (they sang with him on his No More Shall We Part album), Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, Leonard's singers Perla Batalla and Julie Christnesen, Linda Thompson, Teddy Thompson etc. They worked with Rufus and Martha Wainwright and I believe with their father Loudon Wainwright III, and Martha is friend with Lorca (Leonard's daughter), and L's sister Esther attended those tribute shows in New York I believe. I also read that Rufus was on tea at L's house few times. So LC at least heard about The Sisters I believe.
If there's a chance that you're not familiar with the work of Wainwright family, you should try

Some of our US forum friends were at those Wilmer's nights, maybe they will know more. :D

btw, great site. jurica (my co-webmaster) recently made his first short film, I must told him about your site, and I myself am post-graduate student of film theory, so we're in same bussiness, it can be said

Yeah that's right Tom. Rufus has commented about Leonard being a family friend and talked about an occasion where Leonard materialised for a visit in his Buddhist garb.
