Gold in Ireland!

Ireland has joined Poland, Norway, Canada and Denmark:
Dear Heather has gone gold!

This is from Tom:

DH is at #71 of Popmattes Best Music of 2004 list:

Like a sage descending from the mountaintop (in this case, literally, given his recent years in a Zen monastery), the 70-year-old Cohen proves that his autumn years fit him quite well, and that his inner satyr still has a few springs and summers left. Still possessed of a sepulchral voice that makes every utterance sound like a profound meditation, Cohen continues to plumb the depths of his favorite subjects: the cruel jokes of age, the Mystery of women, romance as a spiritual endeavor, the need for the artist's soul in everyone to rage against the corruptions of the world. Cohen's newfound balance in portraying these things, though, is Dear Heather's greatest strength, and when Cohen's time finally comes to shuffle off his mortal coil, you get the sense that he'll steal a few extra hours playfully discussing everything he's seen and done with an utterly charmed Reaper.

Ahh, Lands of class, thank you Lizzytish, on behalf of the Irish people I graciously accept your compliments. And may I say on behalf of my fellow country women and men that the adoration and love of a poet in Ireland is a difficult status to achieve due to the proliferation of "lousy little poets" and wonderous personalities whose word paintings adorn many an Irish bookshelf. Ireland's peoples have long adored and acknowledged the genius of Leonard with his work honoured in sound, sight and word albeit on a subcutaeneous level of Irish culture.
Its lovely to see DH achieve the level of absorbtion it has here and hopefully it will draw more Beautiful Losers out to appreciate the wonder that is Leonard.

Slan go foil.

My hearty you're welcome :D on behalf of all your countrymen and women, Kieron. Class is the only, viable explanation for such an embrace.

"Slan go foil" = ?

I'm delighted that Leonard has been accepted into the country of saints and scholars. I'm endlessly proud to have contributed to DH going gold and am tempted to buy a second copy in the hopes of it going Platinum. The first indication of success was when I heard the album advertised on a shitty local radio station (Probably out your way Kieron, be thankful) and it put me in a great mood for a whole week.
Lizzy, we'll have you ag caint Gaeilge fluently before you Know it. .G.

:) Hi Ghoti, I do believe I heard the same radio ad a few months or weeks ago, I too was surprised to hear it on regional, local radio. Keep an ear out for Leonard appearing regularly on Ronan Collins afternoon show on Radio 1 and also on Dave Fannings show on R2, fanning is a complete Beautiful Loser too. Did you hear the interview he had with Leonard in London for the launch of TNS? Excellent, if I can get a copy I will give it to Jarkko to pop up for downloading. Another track you might be interested in is Leonards version of Kevin Barry, :o yup, you read it right, that wonderful old rebel song, send me a mail and Ill attach it in the response. BTW no harm in spreading cupla focail amongst the beautiful losers.

all the best

Fanning did a series on the greatest song writers a while ago every wednesday, I was only able to catch the one on Bob Dylan and I didn't get another chance to check if Leonard was ever included. I can easily imagine LC singing some of the old rebel songs. I'd love to hear it, expect a mail from me soon.
