Love and Justice Night

“I don’t care what you look like. I mean who’d wanna’ look like a celebrity anyway? They have a hard life those people. What I care about is that you believe in this – in Love and Justice – those two things. On the 16th of September there will be a new moon. That means the moon will shed no light. At 8pm at night have a female in your household light a red candle then say a prayer to G-d or the Universe about Love. When this is completed have a male light a white candle and then say a prayer about Justice. If you are alone of course go ahead and light both candles. If you have no candles, just say the two prayers. Be sure to speak from your hearts. If you partake in this ritual you’ll be joining in the first ‘Love and Justice Night’. Again, this ritual will be performed next year on September’s new moon but probably more elaborately. Imagine, all over the world, at 8 o’clock we light two candles for Love and Justice.” – excerpt from ‘Underdog’ recording, early 2012.

This is lovely.

I'm not familiar with underdog (other then an old cartoon) but I love this ritual idea of a common prayer.
For me, if I were doing this alone, I'd leave out the second lighting for in my mind it conflicts with my concept of the first prayer. Perhaps a prayer for balance would be close enough.

Is this an actual event Adam - are you going to do this?

This is, indeed, lovely... and I'm interested in your answers to Cate's questions. For me, they're not in conflict, and I would light both candles. At 8:00 PM each person's local time?

This idea had me going through some definitions of 'justice' because the first notions that come to my mind are of a sword, of personal justice or warring people both sides demanding justice, court systems ... but I see that it is much wider then that and for some people may not be that at all.

Love and justice..two qualities apparently lacking in many places and people (justice as in treating fairly, not giving punishment)...too much of the opposites can be seen - hate and injustice.

James,

hate and injustice both have an expiry date.

Love and Justice don't.

Lizzy, I accomplished the act. I had a female relative light the red candle and say a sweet prayer. I lit the white candle and said a brief statement about Justice. Both candles are flickering on a low table in front of me. Really, they are beautiful, really they are hope. I am fairly certain my household is the only one on Earth holding this. But you should see the candles, Lizzy . You should see the candles. I am seriously thinking of following Mat's idea of doing it every month. I like the discipline implied.

Happy Love and Justice Night,
Boss

yeh,
there is something about discipline;
self-discipline,
it's like a knife
with a freshly honed razor edge.

goodonya Boss.

The Just know about

The Poverty masks

This poem must end
