Emily Bindiger is probably best known to Leonard Cohen fans as Cohen’s backup singer, along with Erin Dickins, during the 1974 and 1975 Tours and as a vocalist in the recording of New Skin For The Old Ceremony, including performing “Who By Fire” as a duet with Cohen. She is also an articulate writer who appreciates humor. In this Q&A, she reports that "Leonard’s tour has been my favorite gig of all time" and talks about how Leonard hired her, what is was like touring with him, and - especially - how funny Leonard was.

The Q&A can be found at Emily Bindiger Talks About Singing And Touring With The Profoundly Funny Leonard Cohen

Dear Dr.
Thanks for sharing this very interesting interview. Emily's take on LC's humour makes perfect sense to me. My first response to Bird on a Wire
was wild laughter. Of course I was 19 at the time and my first response to a lot of things was wild laughter, but Leonard has never ceased making me smile.

Allan,

Your searching out and interviewing past members of LC's entourage - these are treasures! I love that Emily emphasizes his sense of humor. Thank you for this interview.

Warmest regards,
