Post by B4real »

I just received this good news about Jackson's illness -
MELBOURNE & SYDNEY SHOWS RESCHEDULED TO NOVEMBER & DECEMBER 2023

Frontier Touring are pleased to confirm Jackson Browne will return to Australia this November/December 2023, to perform in Melbourne and Sydney, following postponing his shows in both cities last week.

Jackson recovered from the illness and continued his tour with shows in Auckland and Wellington, NZ. The final show of the tour is in Christchurch on April 21st.

All existing tickets remain valid for the new dates. If you purchased tickets to Browne’s original show at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on Thursday 13 April, your new show date is Wednesday 29 November 2023. If you purchased a ticket to his Sydney performance at Aware Super Theatre show on Saturday 15 April, your new date is Friday 1 December 2023.

All ticketholders will receive direct communication from Ticketek, outlining new show details – no action needed. Patrons unable to attend the Nov/Dec dates are able to obtain a full refund. For any further questions, please contact Ticketek via the link here. For a full list of tour dates, head to the tour page.

Unfortunately, too far for me to travel "These Days" but if that was Leonard..... hummm ;-)

Hi Bev,

I’m glad Jackson has recovered from his illness; I was to attend the canceled Melbourne concert, a complimentary ticket from a friend, so will now wait patiently until Nov 29. ;-)

Cheers,
Andrew :)

Andrew, now that's a coincidence because the thought had crossed my mind that you just might have been going to this concert ;-)
And today I accidentally came across another connection with Leonard and Jackson while listening to an old and very casual live-to-air radio show with Jackson Browne & David Blue at WBCN FM Studios, August 27, 1972 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SpDiVro3KY
Listen for 6 minutes at 16:00 mins to 22:00 mins - they are talking about a song David wrote about Leonard, called "A Portrait of Leonard Cohen" (aka Troubador Song) which David sings then and it's repeated at 1:10:00 mins.

Here it is for quick reference - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKvaGlXqJQQ

Also, in this same programme at 39:30 mins the announcer says they will postphone the news :o and then David & Jackson sing one of Leonard's songs, Tonight Will Be Fine.

Here it is for quick reference - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgM157aSoU8

At about 50 mins they also talk about "a chick surrounded by fire and chains; that's what hell's like, to be on the back of Leonard's album'" ;-)

Leonard wrote an eulogy to David Blue - https://www.leonardcohenforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=9167
Unfortunately the links are old and non-active but there is some interesting discussion.

Hi Bev, thanks so much for those links. I really enjoyed those snippets… it was nice to listen to their banter about Leonard and the Troubador album naming. 8)

Cheers,
Andrew :)

JACKSON BROWNE OVERSEES REMASTERING AND PACKAGING OF HIS DEBUT ALBUM JACKSON BROWNE
September 20, 2023

Available September 22 through Inside Recordings

Singer-songwriter Jackson Browne releases a remastered version of his debut album Jackson Browne this Friday, September 22, 2023. The album will be available worldwide on CD and 180-gram LP through Inside Recordings, and digitally by license to Rhino Records.

Both the 180-gram LP and CD are packaged to resemble the original 1972 vinyl release, and include lyrics. The audio was remastered from the original analog master tapes.

Jackson Browne was originally released in January 1972 on David Geffen’s Asylum Records.

“It’s not often that a single album is sufficient to place a new performer among the first rank of recording artists. Jackson Browne’s long-awaited debut album chimes in its author with the resounding authority of an Astral Weeks, a Gasoline Alley, or an After the Gold Rush. Jackson Browne’s sensibility is romantic in the best sense of the term: his songs are capable of generating a highly charged, compelling atmosphere throughout, and-just as important-of sustaining that pitch in the listener’s mind long after they’ve ended. Don’t miss it.”
– Bud Scoppa, Rolling Stone, 1972 (RS 103)

Hi Bev, I really enjoyed my first Jackson Browne concert last night.😎

The variety in the music was great, the band was fantastic, the two female backup vocalists were superb and Jackson’s lyrical merit is obvious.👌

Of the 21 song set list, I knew only a couple of songs, but Murray (who was also there) knew most of them.

Cheers,
Andrew 😊

Thanks for the set list, Bev. 🙏
