In the spirit of the Traveling Pack of Naked Poets

My Lover Prefers Pegs

His closet walls are lined
with pegs,
not a single hanger.
Blue shirts hang
under gray pants
neatly ironed
–creased through the knee.
Crisp checkered boxers
are clipped to the back
of the door along
a clothesline string.
I suspect on cold fall mornings
he grabs this line
and runs through the park
as if flying a kite.

I'm pretty sure somebody could do better - why not grab a line from our fish friend (fishfish, that is) or from above and have a bit of fun with it.

not mine - posting, with permission, a friends 'Peg' offering

a choice between grief and nothing

The end of every day the same red wagon on the sidewalk, the same sky and stars,
the same pegged shirts and sheets on the line flying in the breeze; multi-colored
flags in the country of loneliness. She wants to feel the trembling stop, wishes for
the sun to burst in two. Then watch as the charred corners of her life melt. She longs
for a Gatsby, a ginger smelling man, to take her shoes and walk her off to nowhere.
Tell her you ain't got nothin' , making it sound as if she were everything.

every time the wind blows
it blows a little differently
the sheet on the line
between her and the peek-a-boo sun
growing fuchsia

beyond the sheets is the road
where his car came each day
and the dusty wake was always
a little different

every time he held her hand
he squeezed it a little

I liked the past tense of your poem Manna - sad but with a certain warmth.
