Apparently Leonard has been spotted three out of the last four nights at "Moishes Steakhouse" here in Montreal. Now, I really like steak too, but Moishes prices are a little out of my range, so alas, I cannot go see for myself. If anyone else in the Montreal area has the dough, this might be a good place to see Cohen (since the touring days seem to be over).

Arg, and I'm out with a recent wisdom tooth removal! Damn!

Maybe we should organise a stake-out of this establishment

i have been a very grateful visitor to the cohen files site for a very long time, but have somehow only now stumbled upon this message board. it's lovely to find such an intimate spot in the infinite expanse of the web..

as for mr. cohen having been spotted at moishes, i consider myself immeasurably fortunate to be able to confirm this very fact through first-hand experience. i have been working at the restaurant since the summer, and was nearly floored some two weeks ago, upon seeing mr. cohen himself there one fine evening.

having floated home that night on a cloud, entirely satisfied with my simply having seen a lifelong idol in the flesh, you might imagine my tremulous disbelief the following night, upon having the opportunity to meet mr. cohen and thanking him profusely for the countless days his words have parted the clouds, or indeed brewed them into being. his eyes, like his handshake, were so warmly charitable, and his words were of the most tender kindness.

i remember very little of the clumsy mess i said to him, but he did understand well enough to very graciously pen a few words in the battered copy of "stranger music" i carry with me everywhere.

i honestly cannot begin to express how boundlessly fortunate i feel to have had the opportunity to meet this man, as i profoundly understand how very much he and his work mean to so very many people around the world. i think that is why, more than anything, i came away from that evening feeling so heavily humbled.

..i apologize for having made myself so comfortably at home straight away, after only initially intending to poke my head in the door, but i thought of all of the people in the world who might have the hearts to hang onto this particular story, you would most certainly be them.

congratulations to those who evidently do so well in the upkeep of this quaint little corner..and a heartfelt hullo to all of you who revel and dance in cohen's clouds.

When I eat in that neighborhood, it's usually at Schwartz's. Moishe's is out of my price range.

I'm so happy for you in your meeting Leonard personally. It sounds as though the meeting occurred somewhat naturally on the second night, as the first night you left him alone. It's wonderful ~ and I'm certain he felt honoured ~ that you were able to get him to sign your copy of Stranger Music. I know what you mean about his personal manner. You are so right in your description.

You're right, too, that this is the spot where your encounter will be of interest to many , though some may be a bit jealous . However, the reality is that this is by far the most recent encounter that anyone here has had with Leonard; unless, of course, they're not saying anything [more doubtful than not ]. The truth is that most of us long to see him, meet him, speak with him. It would, indeed, be difficult to find oneself in the position you were, and not take the opportunity to do so. With your being an employee of that apparently fine restaurant, I am certain that your graciousness matched his own, with which I am equally certain he was charmed . It was a moment to treasure, and I'm happy for you .

Being primarily vegetarian, I love the humour in your thread title .
