Hallelujah

Listening closely to both Leonard's version (on the essential) and Jeff Buckleys version (Grace) of "Hallelujah" I hear that although verses 1 & 2 are the same the later verses of Jeff Buckley's interpretation are different lyrics.
Can anyone inform me if the different verses in Buckley's recording are from a longer version of Leonard's song (elsewhere or original poem) or has Jeff Buckley invented some words of his own to set to the music?

Thanks to anyone who has this information-

Regards, Witty Owl.

After searching through the L.C. files I think I have answered this question for myself. :)

Dear Witty-owl,
I read your post and thought what other artists would do to cover "A Thousand Kisses Deep", which contains many more verses than the T.N.S. version.
Maybe I'm on the wrong thread, but Leonard is famous for adding bits and pieces to lyrics in his live shows, to the delight of audiences. And that's another thread!
Andrew.

hey witty owl. well, im a huge jeff fan, and on a dvd jeffs says that he came across the song with the different lyrics via another musician(name escapes me now)but in answer to your question, they are leonards own lyrics, just not the ones he used on "variouse postions". theres a great picture in "grace legacy edition" of jeff smiling reading the booklet for "variouse postions". wonderful,i love it :)
