The Plank

I’m nothing but a plank upon
An old crumbled bathing jetty
Placed where nobody comes anymore
My wood is dark and rotting
And the salt stings incessantly
And the waves are labours of death
It’s so dreary to wait to be
One with the blue of the sky
In shrilling shrieks where nobody is laughing
Soon the wave of time itself will give birth
To an after quake of a mighty horror
A tsunami of loss will take place
But then I know people will forget about me
My small plank in the bridge
My simple flat foundation
Better bridges will be built
That doesn’t put lives at stake
When the flood of doubt is forwarded
An old crumbled bathing jetty
Placed where nobody comes anymore
My wood is dark and rotting
And the salt stings incessantly
And the waves are labours of death
It’s so dreary to wait to be
One with the blue of the sky
In shrilling shrieks where nobody is laughing
Soon the wave of time itself will give birth
To an after quake of a mighty horror
A tsunami of loss will take place
But then I know people will forget about me
My small plank in the bridge
My simple flat foundation
Better bridges will be built
That doesn’t put lives at stake
When the flood of doubt is forwarded
