It might not be appropriate to post this here but as a proud father I am going to anyway . I just would like to say that my son Ian fronts a band called "Mistral Cigale" and they have just secured their first paid gig . They are supporting a band called Parkbench at The inkrooms Lavender Hill Clapham on Thursday 19th May . More info at www.inkrooms.co.uk
I think I am more nervous than he is and I will be 200 miles away on the night

Congrats to Ian! Great stuff, Phil. Yes give him all our best wishes. I'm sure it'll go well for him.
I doubt I'll ever recover from how proud I was at my son's "first gig", when he was 9, at the school talent comp (a decade ago).

Well done Ian.... I'm sure your father taught you all that he knows on the music front :) I hope he's not on a commission!

It's always good to hear new bands starting to make their way. It's amazing what talent you can see at many small venues across the country - too many people only listen to manufactured bands.

Thanks to you all for your support . I dont think he will ever give up the day job it is just a passionate hobby that he pursues but you are right Pete about the untapped talent out there !
I am obviously biased but they do a mean arrangement of " Hey thats no way to say goodbye " in the style of the brazilian guitarist Luiz Bonfa

I promised to post a report after the gig . Apparently it went well and the band were pleased with their performance which is lets face half the battle . They performed eight songs with a mixture of covers and their own compositions and got some excellent feedback from the audience . It has led to an immediate future booking so fingers crossed . All I can say is watch this space!!
