yesterday-night, on arte-tv, "april in tel aviv", about art & music & things like that, ended with a singer called yael deckelbaum, singing a very nice version of hallelujah.
i only just caught her name in the credits at the end of the show, but i did not have any more info about her ; her name does not figure among the covering artists on Leonardcohenfiles, so i guess this is not a song from an official album - or is it ? does anyone know anything about her ?
thanks,
pe

Hey there pe,
You can find out more about Yael at her official web site:
http://www.yaeldeckelbaum.com/
There are also quite a few clips of hers on YouTube.
Hope this helps,
Avi

Avi,
Thanks for your post of Yael Deckelbaum's website.
When I first saw her name posted on the Forum, I wondered if she was the daughter of David Decklebaum who emigrated to israel from Montreal. I hesitated to post this because it seemed like a reach for a Forum post.
Now you have confirmed it.......
I knew David growing up in Montreal in the 60's; we went to the same summer camp....and, in fact, his brother, Steve, was in my class at Outremenot High School.
David was well known as a shy guy but an absolutely outstanding banjo player.
No wonder Yael is talented...its in her Montreal genes!

goodnight, and thanks, everyone.
it's always surprising, to see how small this world is : someone in belgium, watching a documentary about culture in israel, on a german/french tv-station, gets info from an american, who rises old memories for a canadian, who has known the father of the singer ;
it's a small world, out there, or a big world, over here, on this forum
