You Must Come And See.

I am house sitting for a friend at the moment in a beautiful house with some wonderful gardens. A while ago I wrote this poem for her. She really loves her garden and looks after all the wild life that visits, and gets very excited over her compost heap (don’t we all). And as I sat in the garden today, for the first time in a long time I thanked G-d I was part of the weird, wonderful and very beautiful world. And I really believe you can find great peace in nature.
You Must Come And See:
You must come and see my Compost Heap
I think it’s quite unique.
I’m sure there’s not another one
So rich and dark and sweet!
It’s filled with worms and crawling things,
A grass snake lives there too.
If I didn’t have my compost heap
I don’t know what I’d do.
You must come and see my Bug Motel.
I’m sure you’ll be impressed.
It’s got four floors and a garden,
And a place for mice to nest.
There are frogs and toads and lacewings,
And ladybirds and bees.
You may even see a beetle
If you get down on your knees.
You must come and see my Veg Patch,
There’s many things to sow.
You’ll have to try the lettuces,
And watch the rhubarb grow.
We’ve got ourselves a wildlife pond
Where newts and tadpoles swim.
And maybe when they’re big enough
They’ll make the slugs life grim.
You must come and see My Garden,
It really is divine.
The badger comes to visit us,
The fox comes round to dine.
There’s boxes filled with nesting birds
And parrots in the trees.
And if you want to find some peace,
Come See My Garden Please!
