You are just a number

Someone where I work recently retired after fifty years service and with the gold watch was a card with these words written on :

you are just a number

Sixteen thousand good mornings
The same amount of good nights
Thirty two thousand tea breaks
With half as many lunch bites
Fifty winters and summers
Fifty autumns and spring
And all the Christmas parties
That fifty Christmas’s bring
Two thousand five hundred Mondays
With that stay in bed feeling you get
Then two thousand five hundred Fridays
With a weekend that's usually wet
Four hundred gridlocked bank holidays
And fifty easters with frost
Fifty holidays and its raining
Then you juggle all year with the cost
Six hundred monthly payslips
It’s a pittance but it pays the rent
Six hundred weeks in credit
Eighteen hundred and the moneys all spent
Now all these numbers are behind you
You are no longer counting the days
Just relax and enjoy your retirement
In any number of ways.

That's GREAT  !!! So true, too, on how those numbers work out on those particular days.

Pete ~ Are you around to do the math for 30 years? I would LOVE to use this! But, who the heck works anywhere for 50 years, anymore!?! Even 30 is a lot!

Thanks for sharing this, YL :D . I suspect I won't be the only one to put it to good use :) .

Lizzy
You obviously haven't been following the news in Britain and the governments plan to change the current retirement age !

Looking at it again I think we definitely do need Pete because those numbers don't seem to add up in the cold light of day . I agree Lizzy it would be nice if someone could do a proper calculation
