Man Flu

Just to lighten the mood after "The Battle " here is one that will hopefully make the ladies smile :

Man flu
Oh! You lucky ladies
How carefree life can be
When only ever troubled by
The occasional P M T

We men are not so fortunate
And we don’t know what to do
When once again we are stricken by
The dreaded bug “man flu”

Thank god no females catch it
You would surely not survive
The ghastly pain and suffering
Men endure to stay alive

The boredom that engulfs us
While lying prostrate for days
Watching endless football
And eating takeaways

Then there’s the humiliation
Of housework we cannot do
Cooking, cleaning, washing
We must leave them all to you

Man flu prevents involvement
With it’s paralysing effect
It does not encourage household chores
And shows activity no respect

Men just have to sit it out
Until man flu has gone
Sometimes it could take weeks and weeks
For good health to come along

So while we battle our nemesis
It is clear what your roll should be
To give us tender loving care
Encouragement and sympathy

For being a man is difficult
When man flu is around
But you never hear us grumble
Or make a whingeing sound

So ladies please remember
If in discomfort while giving birth
Thank god you don’t get man flu
The most unpleasant thing on earth

And if you should be poorly
Don’t brood and moan all day
Be strong like a man with man flu
Until your illness goes away

Funnily enough, I think that I am coming down with woman flu at the moment, which means that absolutely nothing whatsoever has changed ;)

Thanks YL! :D

I remember that, Paula  . Phil's case seems to be appears to be not just acute, but chronic, as well. Perhaps, in the worst cases, a lifelong plague. Poor men! How can you deal, Phil??

Well thank you, thank you
Yorkshire Lad, for I simply had no clue
that during World Cup Soccer, my husband
was in fact stricken by what you’ve termed,
the dreaded bug “man flu”.

And I agree with you sincerely
as you state within your poem
that man flu truly is the most
unpleasant thing on earth,
striking a man so harshly,
within the comfort of his home.

Yorkshire Lad, thanks for the laughter found in your poem!

Yorkshire Lad, that might have made me laugh out loud, but I know better than to believe in man flu, santa claus or the easter bunny.
