Sleep Little Angel Sleep

Sleep Little Angel Sleep.

Beneath the Weeping Willow
Your hair fans out, gently
Tickling the water,
Resting your head as
If on a pillow.

Let no evil disturb your slumber
The rage has been spent,
Leaving us in disbelief
Inconsolable
At your murder.

You can almost see her lying in the water, you paint quite a picture in very few words.

I often wonder how you would ever cope or come to terms with something so dreadful, a death is bad enough, but the theft of life by another human being is unthinkable...

This is excellent Kwills.

I agree with Karren - the visual image is very strong.
I can easily imagine that I'm standing there watching from the distance, wishing for her to wake.

Karren and Cate, thank you both so much for your comments,I was a bit nervous about posting it as I don't normally write seriously as you've probably noticed!

A few months back we experienced our first murder in our town and as we are quite a small community it hit us really hard.I never thought I would be as affected as I found myself to be.
Whatever anybody thinks of the victim, whether they be male or female, good or bad,it really brought it home to us that nobody has the right to take a life.Knowing both the young woman and the person who has finally been arrested for her murder, has caused such controversy and disbelief in our community.

I was quite distressed about it all and felt the need to write or try to write about it in some way.I'm not really sure if the poem needs some more verses or maybe leaving it short is best.
Thanks for your input it is much appreciated.

I was aware how much this tragic event had affected you so it is no surprise to me that you have posted such a poignant poem . Thankyou for sharing your innermost feelings with the forum . I find that writing poetry eases a troubled mind tremendously . As to the length; the poem itself knows when it is finished so the fact that you have posted it means that it must be
