Intolerance

I'll never forget, never forget, that horrid evil face
etched in anger and the utter personification of hate
carried through the realms, of mystical time and space
through countless wars and conflicts, of the human race
the antithesis of love and known human compassion
faces of civilians, starving on meagre war rations
the absolute opposite of the splendour, of the throes of passion
shot children lying face down, in the pools of their own blood
long after we had the supposed cleansing of the flood
and why, and why, have we not learnt tolerance?
the teacher is absent and we are all drinking absinthe
hurling war missiles at each other, like classroom paper darts
causing more intolerance and hatred to start
and our bones may forget the friction of the killing blades
but our minds always remember the bastard killers face that never fades
