Travels in space

He came all the way from the back of his mind
where he'd been hiding, numb, mute and blind
The orbit of her arms now a distant longing
he continues on unrepentent of any belonging
To a world that promised love in the form of hysteria
and which now lies in a cool shaded grave crowned by wisteria
Steel - cold to the eyes but warm to the hand -
now lines his heart just like any other man
The heart that feels like a stone in his chest
that once sang pressed against her breast

I love this, Insanitor. I really like your use of images and metaphors. A poem that triggers a feeling of sadness.

 :) Well, thanks lizzytysh, it's a nice feeling to get praise. Although I never meant to make you sad :(

Hi Insanitor ~

Well, there's a question waiting for you over on the "Interview. . ." thread in the Comments & Questions section. It asks whether it's difficult for you to accept compliments  .

The grave, the wisteria, the loss that has no hope of resolve, the strength and immediacy of her memory, and the way these and the rest were phrased create a feeling of sadness. For me, it's not a bad thing.

The human mind shrinks away from what hurts the body, heart and soul. But the pain cannot be kept hidden for ever. It must emerge and be purged. Grief is a similar condition. It can take days to emerge and flourish, or it can take years. But it will flourish. It cannot be kept hidden. I like this piece Insanitor. No bullshit here from me. I like it. (not bullshit, it takes ages to clean up) I like the poem. But you probably guessed that already? Hi liz!!

Wow. Thanks for the encouraging and kind words.

It's true about the emerging erupting nature of buried pain. Sometimes it comes in waves, tidal, tsunami, so on. But perhaps its possible that you can't know your true beauty if you don't remove the pain that covers it too?

Bullshit is hard to clean up, LOL

Hi Insanitor ~ :D

I must have missed this, on my fleeting visits! Truly beautiful piece...straight to the heart, poignant and touching. Heartache is a real pain in your heart....strange how no one ever tells you that :(

Love & Light,
~ Makera

P.S. You may wish to fix the typo in 'unrepentant'.

Hmmm....I think I'll leave it. I'm unrepenting of that error and life is really a series of mistakes

But thanks for pointing it out.
