First message ...
Just back from scouting mission to Sligo, (got lost on my way and also got lost on my way back !)

Will have plenty of news for you all on the Forum in the next few days,
Should I open a new thread "Sligo Concert Arrangments" or somesuch ?

Westlife ( Boy's / Man's Band ) has been announced for Concert at Lissadell for Friday 30th July,
I guess the event is just really a "test run" for Leonard's concert the following night
in order to work out traffic issues etc. So the ground will be well prepared for us, (thanks Westlife )

Bird-on-The-Wire has started chirping again (something about "Do Not Dwell on What Has Passed Away" but "Do Not Rule Out Monday Night either" --- just yet !!!!...................

You all know how this works so don't get too excited ....
or as the saying in the Irish has it "Say Nothing Till You Hear More".

The Garavouge, Stephen Street, Bar and Restaurant has been nominated as The Leonard Cohen Headquarters for Forum Members and Fans, shuttle buses to Lissadell will operate from the nearby Bus park from 3.30pm to 6oc.
Return tickets will be available and can be booked online.
Contact email Keith at address below.
I met with Keith McNair from "Discover Sligo" he is organizing transport from various counties to Sligo.
Further information will appear in the Thread in the coming weeks.
Arrangements for Car Parking adjacent to the venue are not yet finalised yet.
Lissadell is approx 6 miles from the town.
I lost my way yesterday going to Sligo from Carlow and lost my way on the return journey !! :?:
A return journey I thought would take up 5 hours ...I ended up driving for 8 hours.
Make sure and bring a map !!........
More data to follow, easy Questions please , I will do my best to answer.
Organic Birdseed for "Bird-on-The-Wire" may elicit further information concerning Monday 2nd August. (reliable up to now ). carlowmike

Carlowmike, you're a star. Just one question - relatively easy I think- do you know if there will be food stalls at the venue like at Kilmainham. :?: Hope there will be as its going to be a very long afternoon. Thanks a million.. :D

Well done.. great work..

Just wondering what line of business you are in.. Seems like you are a great asset to Carlow? Any thoughts on moving to Sligo and joining the Tourist office here??? ;-)

Thanks Mick for your labour of love! You are awesome....truly. Will repay that wine at Mustang Sally's many times over for all your help! ;-) We possibly could all flounder around and somehow figure out what to do, but I doubt it. Your assistance/knowledge has and will be invaluable! :D

Trains leave Connolly Station , Dublin 8 times daily to Sligo.
I am told the trains in service are modern and comfortable and food is available during the 3 hour train ride to Sligo. The Sligo railway station is about a 10 minute walk from the Garavouge.
For Bus Eireann see www.buseireann.ie

We are staying at Clarion House self catering apartments and were wondering how many others were ( hoping quite a few) and if its likely there would be any public transport from there to the concert.
We are excited at the prospect of being a part of what is going to be a magical experience!! :D

CarlowMike you are awesome! Thank you for all the information about Sligo and all the planning you are doing. It is going to be the event of the year..
well one of them that's for sure...you are making it so much more real and easier for all of us coming from close and afar! A magical wondrous few days in such a beautiful area with 2 concerts to look forward to. I am soooo excited!
With gratitude to you! Look forward to coming to Ireland again after so long (last time was 1973) and meeting everyone.
Thanks again Mike! Sending lots of organic birdseed over the mountains and sea to the little bird on the wire...
