Faith




I have often found that my faith was lacking

and that my voice was choked with tears.

I believed the world to be mine for the asking,

but I remained a slave to numerous fears.

That fear that I could not measure up to His word,

that fear that I could not satisfy His demands.

I have lived a life where His voice is rarely heard,

and foolishly ignored the wisdom of His plans.


I have often found that my faith was weak,

and believed myself unworthy of His blessing.

But I now prostrate myself before Him, humble and meek,

with an abundance of needs urgent and pressing.

I have asked so much of myself without reason,

and have disappointed myself every time.

But He has been with me through every season,

and I praise Him here in these simple rhymes.


O Lord, protect me from the world, guide my spirit,

and lead me towards renewal, a brighter day.

I sing with all of my heart, and hope that you hear it

and I no longer question those things you have to say.

Your glory is beyond me, I dare not comprehend

the fact you gave your life for my pitiful soul.

My faith in you I will forever strengthen and defend

for it is the only thing which ensures I remain whole.
