Leonard & Lost

Although I attempt to avoid the "All Lenny... All the time" mindset here, I was kinda thrilled that the TV hot TV show "Lost" showed previews of next week's show with Leonard singing "Bird on a Wire" as soundtrack.

Maybe we finally are arriving at an All Lenny all the time universe!

Certainly not as thrilling as hearing Cohen on "Lost," but today, at the local Starbucks, I paused, cocked my head, listened (the ambient noise from the adjacent hospital waiting room was loud,) and then said to my favorite barista and no one else in particular: "That's Leonard Cohen singing "Lady Midnight," not a song I would have ever guessed I would be hearing at a Starbucks in South Charleston, W.Va.

"Oh, who's he? Never heard of him" replied the barista.

So, I gave her the (I'm sure we've all used this one) "Have you seen the movie 'Shrek?' line."

So, has Starbucks produced a new coffeehouse covers compilation?

It's cool that you heard Lady Midnight on the radio, though!

Perhaps we should petition CBS to replace Katie Couric with Lenny to read the evening news. Lenny has more worldly experience and a voice that has gravitas!

We need an "All Lenny...All the Time Universe"

Heartening to see the commments on various YouTube videos of Bird on the Wire thanking Lost for introducing them to this song, they only knew Hallelujah before this etc etc. (eg, here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yp18sKXaFlE) Always good to bring Leonard to a wider audience!

Also just realised that the other island in Lost is called Hydra, hehe

The ending of Lost was so "Cohen" too... I wonder if he contributed more than music...
