Show Description
Born into a family of musicians in Kent, England, Charley and Hattie are The Webb Sisters...

Beguiling, dynamic performers with hugely expressive voices and plangent harmonies, they are highly skilled multi-instrumentalists and songwriters of originality and intelligence.

Ingénues yet thinkers, the sisters' youthful energy and musical training combine in adventurous, lyrical and emotionally enthralling performances.

Their singing and playing (harp, guitar, mandolin and more) draw from the folk and pop traditions of Britain and the United States. The Webb Sisters have recorded two albums, building a following in the UK and achieving album and record of the week on iTunes and BBC Radio Two.

The Webb Sisters represented the UK at America's 400th Anniversary celebrations, contributed songs to several major TV shows (most recently "Cane" on CBS), recorded a new song for a Judy Collins tribute album alongside the likes of Dolly Parton and Rufus Wainwright, and have performed on major concert tours with artists such as Jamie Cullum, James Morrison and Jason Mraz.

Currently, The Webb Sisters are honoured to be touring and singing with one of their idols, Leonard Cohen, and are recording their new album with multiple Grammy-winning producer, Peter Asher.

In Brief: Leonard Cohen’s Folk Pop backup singers take center stage

Joe's Pub is a perfect venue for them. If I were anywhere in the New York area, I would definitely go. I hope all goes well and wish them the very best.

I nurture a profound admiration and infatuation with The Webb Sisters. I had no idea however they were English.

Good on them!

I'm guessing it probably doesn't require a whole lot of nurturing, either, though it certainly may get plenty :) . Too bad you're not in New York. It's a PERFECT venue for them, the same as it was for Anjani and Leonard and the group at that time.

Shoot, it's a Monday and I'm supposed to be working. BUT, I will attempt to get the time off and zip down to NYC. Would love to see the "girls" in their own venue

ps..Joe's Pub is EXCELLENT!

That is indeed a shame. I'm actually on holiday in Australia, making it twice as difficult to catch it. They'll be around Europe soon enough though, don't you think?

Jarkko, thank you for the info - just bought tickets, & looking forward to the experience - I've only once before been to Joe's Pub, & it was a long time ago, but I remember it was really nice - very intimate setting (if it's the place I'm thinking of).

If any other forum members are planning to go, maybe we could reserve a table together, or sit near each other if the tables are too small (I'm not sure how that would work, but feel free to let me know if you are going, by post, PM, email, whatever. . .)

AND LADYDI - be sure to let me know if you can come - that would be great!

I'm sure it's the same one, seadove. Your description fits and it's a unique enough name for a venue. The booths [3 or 4 of the and located on the other side of the narrow walkway that divides them and the tables that are alongside the stage at floor level] seem to me to be the BEST viewing. You can be quite center and it seems at eye level... and 'right there' regardless of the tables stageside.

You're welcome, seadove. And, yes, KjeXXXer, I'd say you'll be VERY likely to find them around the neighbourhood in Europe sometime.

Linda and I have tix and reservations now. Hope to see more forum folks join in.

Think we will need to keep our own table most likely -- are treating Linda's newphews to their first nightclub/live music show. (Kyle 12, and Ryan 10, live in Pt Pleasant, but Linda is caring for them a few days during their school break.)

LaydDi -- think you should opt for NYC and Toronto -- both promise to be great events. We are looking forward to it.
