I saw love crying all alone

I saw love crying all alone
Backed into a corner, the fools tried to warn her
But even sages could not find it a home
Oh, the strength of loneliness
And there was love, afraid to cast its eyes
Upon the sanctified, the happy suicide
Long forgotten amid the long goodbyes
Oh, the pride of cunning cowardice

Oh, then I heard your voice sweetly whispering to me
“I am the raging flame love meant me to be”
You burn me with your beauty so divine
Each time you put your blazing hand in mine

I bent to my lonely disposition
And thought of possibility to care for love’s fragility
By complying with the heart’s submission
Oh, the taste of bitter truths
Love I carried within my palms
Beyond unyielding distance to institutions of insistence
Against the avalanche of bombs
Oh, the attention we refuse

Oh, then I wore the heavy crown of rejection
When I offered you my love and affection
I feel the stinging embers of resentment
Each time you confuse happiness with contentment

Oh, then I heard your voice sweetly whispering to me
“I am the raging flame love meant me to be”
You burn me in the quiet tears I’ve cried
For love discarded, love deserted, love denied
