For Kush and Laurie, Here is another "non-cynical" song that was written a couple of years ago in appreciation for the love of my life. Being a copy and paste from my files you also get the chords, so any guitarists out there may get a sense of the melody if you try to play it. The song is a slow pace with finger style arpeggios.

anyhoo, I like it... somehow reminds me of "why worry" by mark knopfler, which is one of my favourite "bad day-songs"... now I will have a "good day-song" in case I need it...

Yes Arno I must agree that thematically this song is similar to Knopfler's "Why Worry Now" since you mention it. Musically though I think the song owes as much if not more to Eric Clapton from his Unplugged period for inspiration and influence. Hard to say as I have much respect and affection for both songwriters.

Laurie , don't get too hung up on the literal meaning; "strife is always at the door" is a metaphor, inferring that for any of us - trouble is never very far away. Fact is I live in a peaceful rural location in one of the "greener' areas of our state. Probably the worst that literally comes to my door is when the 7 Day Adventurers or Yeehoover witnesses come knocking at 8.00 am on a Saturday morning after a late night.
The subjects or themes of my songwriting are many and varied. Very often what works as a song lyric may not stand alone as a poem without seeming a bit banal.

Witty owl, seems we're kindred spirits, at least musically... Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler share together with LC the first place on my personal favourites list...

I'm going right now and try your song with a more unplugged slowhand picking... lets see what happens.

Arno, if you still have trouble making sense of how the chords fit with the words then I could try sending the song score by email to see if that works. Better still- the song is recorded on a demo. CD of the next CD collection of songs I am still working on. Send a PM or email if you wish to pursue this further. I have so far recorded 7 songs on to the demo. Over the past few weeks I have also recorded a demo. batch of cover songs which includes 2 by Leonard; 2 different versions of Suzanne and 1 of One of Us Cannot be Wrong.
