Today is Halloween
And I’m reminded of the masks we wear
I’ll paint my face up like a monster
To give the world a frightening scare
Because nothing is more dangerous
Than a broken-hearted lover
Who’ll gladly give the world away
And give himself no means to recover

It reminded me of how happy we could be together
But now we trick the world with disguise and mask
I knew that love was just too true and good to last forever

But it seems just like every other day
So many people walking the streets
And never really knowing the way
Because there’s nothing more lonesome
Than pretending to be someone else
Gladly giving ourselves away
With the belief that somehow it all helps

And I’m so terrified of living without you
I can’t stomach the thought of what I’m about to endure
Falsifying our happiness can give us so much power
To pretend we’re overcoming the aimlessness of our future

But the future’s so far beyond
And the future is in between
It’s getting so hard to go on
Living this long Halloween
