a muse in your own time

This is a poem I wrote inspired by the works of Leonard Cohen
A muse in your own time
I used to listen to your persuasive voice
that painted life as we knew it
in reddish, the soft of blue
I will not beg you, brother
to unveil your window or unmask what’s a mystery
for what a man you are unknown
and as a bird that circles
in the surroundings of the others
one will lead the way
The others they will follow
In my secret life the muse in your own time
will lead me to waters I touch
to withdraw my gaze dignified enough
from the well of your longing yearning
uneven and unholy for unaided
belonging in the story
Everybody knows the lonely are forgotten
and the ones who tells the story have
the power to withhold them
No one else could do bravery better
or fate placed by your own tongue
parting air in breaking balls of sounds
and as a bird that circles
in the surroundings of the others
One will lead the way
the others they will follow
A muse in your own time
I used to listen to your persuasive voice
that painted life as we knew it
in reddish, the soft of blue
I will not beg you, brother
to unveil your window or unmask what’s a mystery
for what a man you are unknown
and as a bird that circles
in the surroundings of the others
one will lead the way
The others they will follow
In my secret life the muse in your own time
will lead me to waters I touch
to withdraw my gaze dignified enough
from the well of your longing yearning
uneven and unholy for unaided
belonging in the story
Everybody knows the lonely are forgotten
and the ones who tells the story have
the power to withhold them
No one else could do bravery better
or fate placed by your own tongue
parting air in breaking balls of sounds
and as a bird that circles
in the surroundings of the others
One will lead the way
the others they will follow
