This is my first post here. I wrote this a while ago, but it is one of the clearer Cohen influences ever over my writing.

She lay in my arms, her hair still wet
From the shower that renewed her
Her perfume spread all across the room
Her eyes were gazing into mine
and soon
She’ll be making love to me once more

I don’t care, I don’t want the bed
I don’t want the water, the house, the street
I can have them all after I’m dead
As I was thinking this
she said:
“I never wanted more”

We were alone, all the time,
But so short a time for love
I wanted to freeze the moment
To capture the love
in a photo
But that wouldn’t be enough

I dried her hair with my breath
And fed her longing with my words
I didn’t see them coming out
Of a mouth so cought up with
real life:
“I never wanted more”

We danced to Cohen, head on shoulder
My hands were hers, my feet hers
My heart hers, her love was mine
I felt her becoming
a pond
For my little boats and leaves

And as I drank her beauty
From the cup she had offered
The night was listening
To the words she whispered
in my mouth:
“More than you, my love”
