(used the meter from "A Thousand Kisses Deep"...since that's when I cried on Tuesday night! It was TERRIFIC! Thanks!)
Ode to Leonard…
You humbly stand, hat held in hand.
Time stops, and hits a chord.
Then gently, over all the world,
Your sweet elixir pours.
Honeyed words, filled with weight,
Spill from a voice that drags the ground,
From underneath they resonate,
This poem of a man.
Our souls they woke, our hearts they broke,
Each moment washed anew.
Music flooded with remembrance,
He sang us what we knew.
Reminded us that angels sing,
So listen while you can.
That we are only what we bring.
This poem of a man.
