Slicing through

Slicing through the mirrored sky
Shockingly crude
Switching lights off
Turning minds sour
Sowing mortality
Watershed of generations
Beyond belief!
Beyond belief?
Beyond belief!!!
This is the first time I have felt calm enough to put my anger into words of meaning. I have been led into this contribution by LaurieAK's beautiful rendering of that day. We lost so many. G-d bless.

Byron~ Your "mirrored sky" to reflect the buildings that were, is lovely and ties well with your title-bringing to my mind a shattered mirror, an unsettling vision in itself-sharp, dangerous, with no redeeming qualities. Use of language expresses your 'shock' well and does not deter from the theme. And of course it always feels good to be able to express strong emotions without getting lost in the cause. You did well.
And thanks for the compliment on my piece. Glad it inspired a response.

LaurieAK, I have been waiting patiently for the 'proper' time to bring my words to the forum. Your posting has allowed me to come through the doorway which you have created. I must "thank you."

I have been racking my brain to remember the source for the triple 'Beyond belief.'
It comes from a sound and a beat in a song about death and the wasting of life. It is on 'American IV' by Johnny Cash from 2003. The song is, 'I hung my head.' A stunning piece of work in a collection of excellence from a dying man. Another one we lost, but he'll be singing with Jeff Buckley; and what a 'Hallelujah' that will be.

Hi Byron ~
It's very difficult to find words to express the September 11 shock, personally, nationwide, and worldwide, as well. I'm glad to see your and Laurie's poems that relate to it. Both are so accurate in their descriptions. Thanks.
