Requiem for a Friend

How do you tell a man, his wife has gone away?
How do you tell yourself, love is dead betrayed
Not by another man, she had eyes for only me
So young, so beautiful, but she died yesterday

So friends gather round, bring a lily or two, don't be proud
That white dress she wore in the morning, now she wears as a shroud
A requiem for a friend, so long sister, this is not the end
A requiem for a friend, I'm sad sister, till we meet again

No lips to kiss, none as cold as the hand that's not there
No breasts to rest my head, no pillows with golden hair
How I will miss you more, more than anyone will ever know
My memory is like a door, a door that never closed

So friends gather round, bring a lily or two, don't be proud
That white dress she wore in the morning, now she wears as a shroud
A requiem for a friend, so long sister, this is not the end
A requiem for a friend, so long sister, till we meet again

A million times I'm gonna miss you, a million tears I gonna cry
If love could have only saved you, you never would have died
Resting were shadows fall, you didn't go alone
Cos part of me went with you, the day God called you home

So friends gather round, bring a lily or two, don't be proud
That white dress she wore in the morning, now she wears as a shroud
A requiem for a friend, so long sister, this is not the end
A requiem for a friend, so long sister, till we meet again

There's a road called reflection where thoughts and wishes meet
I take that road in thought today, your smile still shine so sweet
Broken is the chain of love, now nothing can be the same
But one by one, as God calls, that chain will link again

So friends gather round, bring a lily or two, don't be proud
That white dress she wore in the morning, now she wears as a shroud
A requiem for my best friend, so long sister, this is not the end
A requiem for my best friend, so long sister, till we meet again

it is such a beautiful poem, Ben...I love it...
I saw it a long time ago and many times I wanted to say what are my feelings about, but I couldn't find the proper words...I've just cried...so sad...and so beautifully said..."But one by one, as God calls, that chain will link again"...
Ben, thanks a lot for this poem...

warm regards,
Iubita
