I have never seen anything like this before. So many International artists visit Israel every year. People like Red Eyed Peas, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Hulio Eglesias, Depeche Mode, And many many many more! But look what happened here with regard to Leonard Cohen:

1. So much contraversy about him coming over to here.

2. Playing for free, and is donating all the income toward peace in the region (I really hope so). No other artist have done that so far.

3. A massive advertisment investment and sponsership made by a local bank, some USD 2,000,000!!!

4. Saturday night the booking offices were opened, and until 11 o'clock Sunday morning all the 40,000 available tickets were sold out! That would leave another 7,000 tickets for the workers of the sponser bank that was bought in advance , these tickets started to sell at 10 this morning and all tickets were distributed at 10.07 !!!!! Within 7 minutes.

5. This is a smashing record never before experienced in this country.

Now I'm asking you, Who is that out there?

Is it a bird? NO!

Is it a plane? NO!

It's Leonard Cohen!!!!!

it is not so joyful to al lot of people who couldn't get a ticket.

if i buy a ticket to an abroad show, and it cancelled or i can't make it in time, can i get money refund and cancel my reservation in ticketmaster?

Are you asking me as a ticketmaster?

Well actually I do have such an experience. I bought Tickets to a London show but did not fly to London.

So What I did was..... I made paper kites out of the tickets.

There is no doubt about the hysteria and history of LC gig in Israel.
But Madonna gives a second gig after a massive demand from fans and also Suzanne Vega last month concert was such a success she did two gigs at the same day.
The Israelis love to see good gigs and the outcome of it is a sold out gigs and a demand to add more gigs.
I hope performers who come to Israel will understand it and come more often.

I feel so sorry for the fans in Israel who have been unable to get tickets to see Leonard in Tel Aviv. Elsewhere we have been so fortunate to have had several opportunities to see him.

Please do not feel that everyone in the UK feels the same way, the BBC and The Guardian newspaper do not speak for everyone - nor does the present Government which I for one did not vote in.

Maybe Leonard will consider a further night, committments permitting, it has been done before (one example was recently in Dublin) where additional concerts have been added because of demand and/or the venue being small. I think it unlikely he would do two concerts in one day, he puts such a lot into his performance - as does the whole band.

Thanks for your words; as much as I love the UK I really don’t pay attention to the newspapers.
LC gig in Israel for his fans is a real celebration and I do hope they will find a secondary date.
I wasn't talking about LC doing 2 gigs at the same day I just pointed out that good artists
from all over the world are appreciated and sell tickets for their gigs because of the hunger we have
here for international performances.
at the 1960's the Israeli government of that time didn’t allow the Beatles to perform in Israel
and I can tell you that Paul McCartney’s gig at Park Hayrkon was one of a kind.
we all expect LC and his band with 20 years anticipation, I hope now you can understand the disappointment of many.
we hope to have another gig here and we urge the producers to approve it.

I also add my petition to include another concert from Leonard Cohen, although I got my tickets.

Thank you for your kind words Evie. As individuals we Israelis suffer quite a bit from generalizations and we try our best not to do the same to others. We are used to the biased reporting from the BBC, the Guardian and their likes and we do not hate Brits, honest.
I encourage you to travel to Israel this winter, it's not far, it's inexpensive, perfectly safe and the weather is just amazing from October all the way through May. English is written and spoken everywhere and there are a million amazing things to see from the Med to the Dead Sea and from the Desert to the Galilee, and don't forget all of the wonderful ruins (as well as the new Jerusalem, which actually does glow...). While I don't live there anymore, I know that my countrymen will welcome you warmly, that's just what we do.

Suzanne Vega performed in a much smaller venue (roughly 3000 people). Leonard Cohen sold somewhere around 15 times that number.
