new member scared

as a new member i can honestly say that after reading the posts for the last week or so i am scared to state my opinion on any subject for fear of direct retaliation ,,i'll admit that i am new to this whole thing(chat rooms) but i dont think its supposed to be like this . is it always this tense on the board?

This forum seems to be a home for long knives and barbed tongues. Is this the best advertisement for Leonard Cohen's music. I am new too to his music, but I think I'll stick to Beatles. More happy & peaceful.
