The Great divide

Oh, to view the sights across the great divide
and wonder at the grass on the other side
at the glowing white mansions on the hill
like gone with the wind and the freedom of the pill
and the geometric polygons of our divided life
on a giant plasma screen of our technicolour troubles and strife
here, there ain't no wars and just the hope of lasting peace
where lust is just a passion, and love is the ultimate release
and the fatelines and timelines that guided us here
were phantoms on the mists and dew of many a tear
and if you examine the troubled contours of your mind
peace and happiness here, you are sure to find
and if you have the shadow of any doubt or fear
your birthright again, you will have to appear
and why do we cross this great divide, year after year?
the answer is in the tides and the sound of the shell in your ear.

Ciao George,

I once said that there was a genius in you trying to get out. I think this poem is a good example of that! "The answer is in the tides and in the sound of the shell in your ear" is wonderful! Particularly the words "sound of the shell in your ear" is very poetic!
