... as noted elsewhere on this site:

BIRTHDAYS
Congratulations to: Manna (100), JillianMichaels (39)

Manna, you really don't look to be 100.. but if you are... um... it might be time to update the photo...

.. anyway, Happy Birthday, at any age (oh and to you too, Jillian) (wherever you are)...

v i o l e t

... I thought I should do a more festive color... oh, and I added the smiley [much later date: this I've just removed], which I have reluctantly been using more frequently, I'm afraid.. (even though I'm against using them in principle)... v.

..hmm.. anyone care to contribute a birthday poem?? (just a thought)...

... ( how about centennial birthday poems?)...

Dat gal done say dat she’s a hundred
Show me de wrinkles, de white hairs.

Dat ain’t de truth, I tell you so
Dat gal be lyin’ ‘bout her age
I seen her jus’ one year ago
She under thirty by my gauge…

Hey, Happy Birthday, Manna :D ! Perhaps, you'll celebrate by listening to The Future or watching Back to the Future; or, perhaps, sharing your beauty secrets.

Jillian ~ It was so good to meet you in New York!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I've loved reading your poetry here and hope you'll be sharing more.

Both of you are such a lovely addition to this section :D !

Imaginary Fiend, eh, IF ;-) ?

Of course I am 100 years old, you whippersnappers. How do you think I know all those old songs and such? Here is what I have learned in my 100 years on the planet.

1. Wisdom is a myth. Instead, there are smart people and dumb people. There are people who make generalized observations, and people who accept them. There are people who work hard, and those who don't.

2. You must must must drink wine, unless you are an alcoholic.

3. Music helps.

4. All miniature versions of things are endearing.

5. Embrace everything.

6. Life is too short to bother saying life is too short even one more time. Please stop it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANNA!!!

You have indeed given us some very wise advice.

but ...

I think you might be lying about your age - seems to me you turn 100 last year.

Manna, being as old as you are,
I know that Serena Ryder's "sing sing sing"
can only have made you want to hear
Louis Prima's "sing sing sing".

So here's a video of Gene Krupa,
out of his mind on the dangerous drug "marijuana" -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9J5Zt2O ... C5&index=0

and a better audio version of "sing sing sing" -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Apc50yPFXPI

~~
Which reminds me that I love swing.
And so for no other reason I dedicate my favorite
Benny Goodman - Peggy Lee clip
to Manna, on her 101st ---

(which, come to think of it,
does sort of remind me of Manna. :)

Hey Greg. This is my favourite cut of that song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yy5THitqPBw

I don't know if there's a man anywhere who doesn't say, "Yes, ma'am, whatever you say," after Jessica makes her desires known. She's not bad, she's just drawn that way.
I can kinda see the Peggy/Manna resemblance, though.
Thanks for all the birthday fun, gang.

xoxo
