Chicago May 6, 2009 Show, Region questions

I just bought a ticket for this show. I was so moved by the l.a. show that I have to see it again. I've never been to Chicago before and I so far looked at two hotels near the venue and they are overly expensive for the 1 night I will be there. Any local Chicago people have an affordable suggestion for a place to stay at for that night that is close to the venue? Any one else flying in for this show? Perhaps we can split a cab or carpool.

I'm flying out by myself from So. California. I've yet to buy my airline tix as I'm researching hotels.

Anyone planning to have a get together before the show? I'd like to hang out with some forum Chicago people right before the show.

There's a link for the Chicago meetup further on in the board index.for this topic.......nothing for certain yet, but there's a few so far interested in a meet up,. I'm staying at the Embassy Suites downtown Chicago, on State street. Not exactly cheap, but less than those on the Loop. You also might try Red Roof Inn Chicago, or the Hampton Suites. I'm from Florida, so did a little checking on prices. Also, some folks had good luck on Priceline....
