Being a Cohen fan you get used to hearing countless terrible covers; then you hear something that simply transcends the ordinary work-a-day cover and touches the sublime. This is not a Cohen cover, of course, and I suspect most of you will hate it. Fair enough, but I did tell you not to read this. But maybe, just maybe, one person out there will like this half as much as I do. Turn it up loud and revel is those wonderful vowels............

Partisan,
What can I say, I don't follow directions well. I'm glad I didn't because it led me to the link you provided. An LC fan is allowed to like other music

and I liked this. I then listened to the original Baccara version. The Sophie Ellis-Bexter cover far outshines the original. Her voice is so much better suited for this song and she does deliver!
Now, after that pleasant diversion, allow me to go back to all things LC

.
Kindest regards,
Mary

Yay, bad covers of forgettable 70's songs. Love it. Raise you -

Damn, my reputation precedes me once again. Actually, there was no irony, sarcasm, or any 'side' in what was written.
However, you want to play a game, and yes, I know this isn't seventies, but this has always trumped everything-

Partisan I didn't mind you original link, but BM's was truly awful. Funnily enough I was about to post Rocket Man by William Shatner last night (BM has a history with William Shatner), but I couldn't bring myself to press submit.

I agree Partisan, Shatner trumps everything. Happy memories Diane of me being right about something, however small it was.
It must be posted.

Welcome, Susan. An unusual choice of thread in which to join the LC forum, but why not:-)

It's a great video Diane. This one too, tells a whole story in the space of a pop song.

A further note on the Irish - this one already had me at "I need love" but then he sings Kylie...
