I just bought two VIP package tickets to Ottawa. I could get row J orchestra for $251 or first row VIP for $689.... so held my nose, swallowed hard and did it.
Now... they say material in the VIP package will be mailed to me about two weeks prior to the concert. Does anyone know what this includes?

Yep, that's right. I was able to get a ticket in Seattle - center orchestra, row 23 for $99.50. I had really wanted the VIP package, but they only sell them in pairs (aargh!)...anyway checked to see what was available at the VIP price, center orchestra, row 11. Move up 12 rows for $450??? I'd pay that for front row, but not row 11!!!
Thrilled with my seat, but a few minutes after I purchased, a seat just off center in row 8 came up!

It also comes with an additional cushion for your seat so the people behind you have a hard time seeing.

You know, there's a lot of ways of looking at this.
If Leonard hadn't got ripped off, we wouldn't even be talking about seeing him again. So, in a way, his misfortune is our fortune. Now that I know that my money is going to Leonard and not TM, StubHub, or other scalpers, I'm OK with it. I've been a fan for over 40 years and the joy and enrichment that he has brought to my life is worth it. I have all LC's music, many of his books, dozens of bootleg concerts, several concert memories, etc. etc. LC's value added to my life cannot even be expressed in dollar terms. So I skip a hockey game or two and pass up a dinner and an evening out and I'm even. A few hundred bucks more is a small price to pay. I am just grateful to Jarkko for allowing me an advance opportunity to buy.
I only feel sorry for those who don't have the money for front row seats. But even for them there are really good seats available in this the top concert venue in Canada... cheap seats with great sightlines and the best acoustics imaginable. So nobody is being robbed of a chance for a memorable concert. Having seen him last June in Toronto, I know how great this will be.
People had better get used to this, as it will be the way of the future. It is a way to transfer money for top tickets to the artists rather than to TM or scalpers. If this was not in place, scalpers would have deluged TM today and for the other presales and bought all the top tickets, perhaps shutting out some true fans in the process. Then the top tickets would have appeared on secondary sources for prices much like, maybe more, than we are paying for the VIP package.
I know that this will probably be my last evening with Leonard. I know that this memory will carry me through my final 20 years of boredom, should I be fortunate enough to live that much longer. So, for me, it's worth it to be able to look him in the eye for a few hours one more time. If it's not worth it to you, don't buy a ticket, or buy a cheaper one.

As I posted elsewhere --- my wife & I have been fans for 37 years -- we courted to him & Leonard still gets me laid!
I can't put a value on what he's meant to our lives.

Are the VIP Package tickets also available on presale, or were just the normal tickets?

The VIP ticket packages went on sale at the same time as the Fan Club presale and remained on sale (at least for Ottawa) even after the Fan Club presale ended last night at 10 pm and before the AMEX Front of the Line Presale this morning at 10 am.
All the best.
