Comediart Mûvészeti Iroda is in the process of producing a tribute album with the following tracks:

Take this longing
Love calls you by your name
Hallelujah
Ain't no cure
Diamonds in the mine
Lover lover lover
Suzanne
The future
Don't go home with your hard on
Coming back to you
In my secret life
I can't forget
A thousand kisses deep
Closing time
A singer must die

All songs will be translated by Peter Fabri. He is a well known Hungarian poet and songwriter who also translated songs for the tribute album by Kern András (released in 1998).

The songs will be performed by popular Hungarian singers: Zorán, Zanzibár, Koncz Zsuzsa, Kispál és a borz, Sziámi, Váczi Eszter, Másik János,Kern András, Hernádi Judit, Döme Zsolt, Majsai Gábor, Postásy Juli and Gallai Péter.

Thanks to Kelley for this advance info. The release date is not known (not in the very near future).

Excellent. Lucky I, my country is first to Hungary. I am planning to go and buy Andras' album for a long time, maybe I will finally do it now :D

It would also be interesting for non-Hungarian speakers/understanders to hear these singers perform Leonard's songs in Hungarian. I'd love to see if I can feel the lyrics and vocalizations, without actually understanding the words.

I suppose thatonly people who maybe could undestand Hungarian, except the hungarians, are from Finnland
If I ever get those recordings, I will let you know, L.

I'm very prompted in my curiosity by the number of people who have listened to Leonard sing in English, not understanding the language, yet incredibly drawn to him and their perception of the "meaning" of the lyrics.

Thanks, Tom.

Hi Jarkko ~

Having finally heard Leonard's songs performed by singers in other languages, this is an album I would love to have! They have incredible charm! I'm guessing that the way to arrange for that would be through the contact information you've provided?

I have today posted basic info about the album (also prices), check
http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/hungary2003.html
I got the CD today - very good technical quality, and interesting
interpretations of L's songs (see track listing on the page). Some are
pretty close to the originals while some are quite different, set to the
style of the performers. -- I have always wondered how the Hungarian
language can be a close relative of Finnish -- I don't understand a word
of the translations... :P (Of course there is no need to understand... we
know what the songs are about!!!)

This is the third time I've joined this board. I will remain now.
I'm working on a translation project with a Hungarian university. We were looking at two of my poems about Cohen. I see there was a tribute album in Hungary, after googling. Is this still available? Are there other CD or even better vinyl from Hungarian singers doing Cohen songs.
