Apologies if this is in the wrong section, but I couldn't find a sniff of the announcement anywhere else.

I thought it would happen last year, but 2009 will do.

West Coast dates?

Holy s***.

Jarkko can you confirm??

While this lineup looks amazing, I really didn't want to see him at a huge frantic outdoor festival (with maybe a shortened set). I wonder if this means he will do other dates in California before/after this, at more formal venues?

I also found something about the festival, stating that Leonard Cohen will be among those playing as well, here:

It's disgusting to see that Leonard is on the same font level as Girls Talk. But well here we are in the US. What's next ? Leonard doing support for Britney ?

You must learn to concentrate on the important things in life.
Forget all about what's happening in a far flung field in California on the 17th. April.... remember you, Wijbe (and maybe Willy) and I have a far more interesting gig to attend that evening in a small town in Germany.

That's right my friend. All details about the Tribute to Naldo Byb in the other music section.

We don't have the US tour schedule yet, but I have no reason to doubt the Coachella announcement.

When I saw this I said Holy Crap and then saw that Mnkyface had said Holy S...! I agree, this is pretty wild! I have not been
to one of these big music festivals in years but since I have a place in Palm Springs, about 20 miles away, and if indeed it is for real I may very well be going. Also in addition to some weak acts there are some pretty strong ones! Leonard never ceases to amaze me!

I will be there! Even if the Leonard Cohen annoucement turns out to be a disappointment there are still some great acts planned. Paul McCartney, Morrissey, and Antony & the Johnsons?!

I saw this on Entertainment Tonight Canada.

So, again I pose the question, what does this mean for a Western Canada tour? I am starting to think May and not March, because we probably would have heard a sniff about ticket sales.

Aaaah. The not-knowing is killing me.

I hope everyone is well.

xxoo,

Coachella? I was hoping for a more intimate and acoustically satisfying concert. I worry that the crowd there for the other diverse acts may not be that attentive during his set. However, he did play the Isle of Wight, but we were all much younger then. Paul should do great in that setting, but I am less sure about Leonard.

As I recall, people had the same concerns about Glastonbury, The Big Chill, and Benicassim during the summer tour and he was a hit at those festivals. He'll "take" Coachella too. : )

Yep, Macca better watch out because I predict that Leonard will steal the show! :D
