If it leads one more person to Leonards Music then it must be a good thing, I think

Could you bear to watch Leonard's song being turned into lift music though? Perhaps it will bring new people to him - I hope so, I've seen it referred to on other forums as 'the Shrek song'

It'll probably bring more people to Jeff Buckley, if anything. It was his version that was a download hit recently.

Not sure about the irreverent treatment of our hero in the article linked (below). I would not have been surprised by such remarks in some other areas of the UK press, but surely not the Guardian.
However, I agree with the previous post that if the release of this new version attracts some positive attention, in the future, to LCs music, and helps spread the word then it might just be worthwhile.

If only it was his version though - Simon Cowell will suck the soul from it

Well, we have a preview. Simon Cowell created Il Divo and they have a version of the song on their latest album.

ouch!

Not a fan of 'popera' at the best of times, but that was awful. This does not bode well.

Just hope Diana Vickers wins, she has an amazing voice and I think would do a good version as long as they keep it raw and don't over produce it. She actually sang a verse in the auditions and was good.

Don't think they're any worse than Wainright etc.

That was dire. One of the worst I've heard.

On the Word Magazine's website:
http://www.wordmagazine.co.uk/content/c ... action-now
People debating one person's suggestion that everyone download Leonard's version so that THAT goes to number 1 instead!
If you're not familiar with it, The Word is a very fine magazine for music fans, especially those of us over "a certain age".
I subscribe, despite living on the other side of the planet.
Their weekly free podcast, which is on iTunes, last week included praiseful discussion of last week's London concert.

Hallelujah to be UK Xmas No. 1 – Good thing or bad thing?

Yep, the winner of this year's The X Factor will be singing Hallelujah and is almost certain to be No.1 in the UK this Christmas.
Part of me loves the idea of a LC song topping the charts, but part of me is also cringing big time because The X Factor version will represent everything I hate about manufactured pop music.
What do you guys think?
