Delightful Dolores (mostly a found poem)

Oh Delightful Dolores
don’t you know how to dream?
Down on your knees,
that’s a boring scene.

Dance your bitter sweet Samba
while I lay back and watch
whipped cream tangerine clouds
coast past of our lemon tree hive.

Stick out you tongue and catch,
a taste of honey as it drips.
We’ll layer your lady fingers
with lollipops and roses

Oh my butterball baby,
we could have so much fun.
Just drink this love potion
and the brass brand will play.

Cate~

Interesting images. It has a 60's vibe about it.

How are you using the term "found poem"?

The one experience I've had with that term took something verbatim from a written source (newpaper, magazine, etc) where you extract a portion that can stand alone, as is.

I can't see this being the case here, so I'm curious as to the approach you took with this term. And am curious about its meaning.

It's sensual, but somehow demeaning at the same time...

cheers,
Laurie

Hi Laurie - does it have 60's feel - cool.

I'm probably not using the term quite right.
What I've done is taken pieces of something but mixed it with my own.
I've tried before with black marker - just blacking out words of an article.

Cate – I hope this will make you smile –

The words and rhythm remind me of Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass song titles (!!) Did you 'find' this poem via song lyrics on an album sleeve?

... Ha ha Cate, that's fun!

I LOVE the 60's typography on the album cover, the way the wavy words fit the shape.

Aaaah. That explains the "60s vibe."

Very creative (on your part) and looks like it must have been fun.

cheers,
Laurie

But "Dolores" there isn't on her knees! She appears to be sitting pretty though.

I had SRO, which I listened to over and over, but this album cover did stand out in the record club ads when one was 15.

Thanks Laurie and Imaginary - it was fun, at least it kept me well occupied for an hour or so and I was able to make some use of a started poem that was really really bad.

Casey your quite right - I think she's sitting on something short and it's certainly not a boring scene. I also read she was pregnant at the time.

I'm afraid the knee thing, is just default for me. I seem to have a thing for knees - knees, hands and lines on a face or better yet lines on hands. Let's just hope I don't start writing about elbows.

hummm... I miss William (may he rest in peace), this confession would have brought some good solid ribbing.
Maybe God will ship him back - I'm sure old Willy must be making he's head hurt by now.
