This has probably been posted elsewhere over the years but I had never seen it until sumbling upon it just now.

She is certainly mentioned and featured in other segments of the film.

I hadn't seen it, so thanks Steve. Insightful about both the album and LC's views of music and what he was aiming for and his world view at the time.

It's noticable how much LC has changed in appearance and demeanour since the film was made. He seems to have lightened up in both areas. I think he looks better and more cheerful now than he did then.

For my purposes and to my interests as a fledgling songwriter, this is the first interviewer of Leonard Cohen that, to me, asked all the right questions and for the explanations of interest.

Does any one know the origin of this clip? What (hopefully much longer) program it comes from?

Who is the interviewer? I'd love to see him do a similar song-by-song based interview for Ten New Songs.

And now for a tough one, while it doesn't look like a place I would go in to to eat, does anyone out there recognize the restaurant - LA, Montreal, . . . .

That clip appeared on YouTube last year. It was never shown or released before. I think that Marie (Megan2c2b) asked and got the answer - it was done as part of The Future press kit and never used (Leonard didn't know why).

It's also not circulating. is there a way to get a good DVD version from the uploader?

Tom, thanks so much for the information. Hopefully Part 2 will surface on YouTube some day.

I guess Columbia/Sony's decision to not release such footage is par for the course regarding their typical approach to promoting this artist's career.

I checked the uploader's site and he only shows the 16 minute clip. I didn't see an offer to sell it.

As you likely already know, whenever you watch a YouTube video, once the red bar indicates it's fully loaded, it will appear in your Temporary Internet Files folder. You can then drag it to your desk top, rename it as an ".flv" file and play it with a player such as VLC Media Player (http://www.videolan.org)
