Ode to a Curmudgeon
(previously titled - Love Song to a Cantankerous old Fart)
In this world of mediocrity,
where prosaic colorless smudge, passes as art
and crowds cheer the exceptionally ungifted,
as though butterflies flew out of their arses.
You alone, are burdened with the gift of sight.
Although you feel compelled to tell humanity
the truth - the world is broken, everything is crap,
the fact is you are defective yourself. Your heart
is a bee hive, honey pumps through your veins.
took away last stanza - don't like it - I'll fix next time I feel grouchy
You coat your cantankerous insides with a layer
of butter frosting you haven’t noticed is off,
and become a precocious imp who uses humour
to expose the truth, to the willfully blind.
edited to change previous last lines of
to reveal the truth to the blind. Old man
cranky you may be, but malevolent you are not.
