I have not been to this section of the forum in quite a long time. But that has now changed. I have been writing a lot since I last posted anything of mine here, but mostly the kinds of things I would not share. But I have new works now that beg for it.

I have been inspired. I have a muse. A girl. A girl that I cannot get out of my head, night or day. When I'm at work, when I'm alone at home, when I watch TV, when I step outside for a smoke at 2 in the morning, when I try to sleep, when I shoot the shit with my friends... my thoughts of her are inescapable. But I fear the feeling is not reciprocated. It's a difficult situation.

I started writing her some of my songs and poems and she became an instant fan, to my elation. I told her I was running out of any good things worthy of her beautiful eyes, but that perhaps she could be my muse. And, in fact, she has been. And I wrote four (so far) pieces that I have let her read and that I have told her she inspired me to write.

I would like to share these here with those of you who might care to read them. However, so that I may receive any kind of comments or feedback on each of them specifically I will post them in separate threads, starting here with one. This was the first one I wrote with her specifically burning in my brain. Enjoy.

Lightning of Love

I was struck by the lightning of love

I was struck by the lightning of love
And burned beyond repair
I was blinded, blinded in its glare
And the thunder rolled through my heart
And tears bled from my soul
I was stumbling, fumbling for control

And you rode in a horse called Death
With your crucifix in hand
Sucking life out of my breath
As I made my final stand

And the people of Shangri-La
Stood by for the execution
Said I’d trade you this, gave you a kiss for the revolution
And the people begged and pleaded
For your mercy on my head
But you struck them, struck them down instead

And you called upon your force of death
With your burning halo above
And when I thought I had nothing left
I was struck by lightning of love

Well the world is on fire
And you’re dancing on the edge of the flame
And for each sickness they acquire
They beg you for an ounce of shame
But the sun won’t get any higher
And the moon’s too easy to blame
When the remains of the day expire
Well, to you it’s all the same

Well the world is on fire
And you’re just dancing on the edge of the flame
And for each sickness they acquire
They beg you for an ounce of shame
But the sun won’t get any higher
And the moon’s too easy to blame
When the remains of the day expire
Well, to you it’s all the same

For your love there is no remedy
No secret truth to behold
No uncharted seas full of mysteries that scavengers foretold
No sacred ark of the covenant
No holy temple to pray
But with your assault I will exalt, I will obey

So you led us on a course of death
By the navigation of your dove
I rejoiced in my distress
For I was struck by the lightning of love

And the world is on fire
But you’re dancing on the edge of the flame
And for each sickness they acquire
They beg you for an ounce of shame
But the sun won’t get any higher
And the moon’s too easy to blame
When the remains of the day expire
Well, to you it’s still the same

And I was struck by the lightning of love
And burned beyond repair
I was humbled, humbled in despair
