Okay whispering in public, sorry ma - It’s true some poets have talent some don’t; it’s nice that you consider those who don’t to still be poets. It seems regardless of natural ability, many people have the desire to express themselves in this form. I’m not sure why, other then to say it’s intrinsically reinforcing, at least for me it’s a selfish pleasure. The good thing about poetry is that there is a certain amount of skill involved and skill can be learned. A poet without innate ability can still learn to write an okay poem and perhaps even an odd good poem. I will admit though, great poems are reserved for those with natural talent.
