This is from a 'Creativity Challenge' that I participated in. We were to write sequential poems based on characters we were assigned - I was give Energizer Bunny. I cheated at II that wasn't written for bunny - that's just me sucking on a crushed caffeine tablet waiting for the water to boil - I needed 4 sections.

Ms. Bunny - first revision

I. Moving to a different beat

He wants more drumming,
... She wants to move to different beats.
Shoving eggs at her, he vows
... to stop leaving them on others beds…
Claiming his chocolate has made
... her bitter, she throws them into her bag.

The only thing worse then words flying
are no words, before silence
hits, Bunny closes the door.

II. making tea.

Snow falls outside her caffeine headache.
Clutching cup to chest, she waits.
Time slows, stops: she vibrates through
to when she could still touch him,
a kettles scream pulls her back.
Shacking hands, prepare mornings tea
even a bunny needs to energize.

III. Bunny on the battle field

The dyslexic saint stands above the fallen,
there is still one, who seems to be breathing.
Unto her knees she falls
in a last ditch effort to save him,
she sucks the life energy from his body.
Disappointed with the result,
bunny wanders from the field.

IV - Bunny moves to the mountain

The drum calls them to meditation,
saffron robes sweep over the mountain.
Bunny bows her smooth head
silence, stillness permeates
all, but her tapping foot and wandering mind.
Nirvana waiting, if only the monk next her
didn’t have such strong hands and smell of mint.

Wow, Cate, this was such an interesting read, and I love how using the energizer bunny gives your fairly serious matters a silly edge. Silly in the best way - fun. Were you given only the character, or settings also? I like how you take one figure and do so much with it.

I sometimes read poems that folks post with music on. I read this while listening to Crooked Jades, and their song/medley thing that they did with a tune called Candy Girl, and a song called Girl Slipped Down.
Oh my little Candy, when will we stand
Back in the holler hand in hand?
Done all I can do, and I wrote it all down
speeded away and not a sound
Drunk all I can drink, I lost my best friend
but whiskey and blood were together again
you get the idea. It was a good compliment.

Thanks Diane - Unfortunately bunnies are easily distracted.

Hi Manna, I was given the character – but not the setting. The poem had to be sequential, under 36 lines and I think I had to use the characters name in each section. I had a lot of fun moving my bunny around to different settings.
I listened to the Crooked Jades tune that you mentioned - very interesting. I'm glad you thought they went well together - Thank you.

WOW! You know the Crooked Jades? I have no sense of how popular things are that I like. One of my favourite groups.

I do now - only because I looked them up after you mentioned them. I found some short video's on you-tube and 2 albums on i-tunes. Plus lots of lyric pages.
