Has anyone put any thought into how we can somehow cobble together some token form of appreciation for the many years (in my case) that we have enjoyed his work.

He will be 70 in September 2004 that is a milestone there must be some thing we can do between us to show our appreciation.

As I'm recalling [vaguely, with no idea from where this information came to me], Paula, there was for some event [another birthday, perhaps?] where a group of people [perhaps from the ng?] got together a birthday[?] card of sorts for him, with everyone signing it? It must have been an electronic one, I would guess. Maybe this is all just a dream I had :? . It was some time back when I believe I actually did learn of this  .

It would seem that perhaps someone is skilled with computer art and we could create a wonderful design for him and then everyone sign it ~ however these things get done. That's just a beginning idea. I know there must be plenty more.

I think he should come on into the forum to read a section set up for birthday salutations and well wishes.

I will start mine now................Best wishes and health on your forthcoming 70th Leonard.

I don`t think he will want to be reminded....he`s only 10 years younger than my Dad and I think he is still gorgeous through and through..

Now I know you will all be impressed with this suggestion. It is not half baked or anything. In England the Womens Institute commissioned a calender for sale and I think for the Masters birthday we should take a leaf out of their book.

I think with various bit of L C paraphernalia in strategic places we could pull it off (no pun intended). As the weather in Britain can be quite inclement the high summer could be the day of the shoot (23rd and 24th August). That could mean all the difference between having to have strategically placed CD or stylus needles for the blokes. What do you think?????

For you non Brits the WI were in their birthday suits which would be good for the birthday boy.

Perhaps it would be an idea to get jarkko to diplomatically 'test the water,' to find out if lc would really want to be reminded of this particular milestone, before we all get wrapped up in doing something special, which could possibly cause a negative emotional response. The last thing I want to do is cause any upset for lc on a very personal level. I have some friends, ex-colleagues and relatives who would prefer, and have preferred, to gloss over this particular life event. We can have a good chuckle amongst ourselves in the meantime, but let's not get carried away when it comes to the actual 'moment'. :?

Is it a bit early to think of his 70th birthday when he has yet to celebrate the one before?

Great idea about the calender Paula, I'm sure Leonard would love it, but some of us are a bit too shy or feel a bit past our sell-by date to pose like the W I members!

We could make up a birthday book though with our individual offerings, like some members of the L C Newsgroup did in 1998. See under Events and Fandom on the front page, then "A quiet afternoon in L A"
Could I nominate myself to visit and present it to him in person please?

Ciao Everyone,

I would like to pose for the calendar. With or without the bow tie.

Also, the present to Leonard should be delivered by the member who has the most posts by his 70th birthday. Everyone hurry! Catch up with Lizzytysh!
