After shaky hand and some tense moments I scored a ticket to Manchester for Wed 18th (by the way would love to buy 2 more for the Tuesday night too-greedy me) Have now purchased my ticket from Australia. All up the whole trip will cost around $5000 Australian, but its worth it! Now if he does eventually come to Australia it will be an added bonus!

I'll be going from my home in Las Vegas, NV in the US to Montreal. Google Maps tells me that's exactly 2,587 miles. Not too bad; at least I'm not coming from Australia!

Me and my boyfriend (he's Irish, i'm Polish but living in Ireland) will go to see Leonard in Dublin and will travel to Manchester couple of days after and Edinburgh a month after that....and who knows where else...it's going to be a great summer guys !!!!

I think I win this contest so far--that is if I actually get tickets--in Lisbon. 4616 miles 7246km. However it might not count if I am going to travel regardless. I would go much farther to see Leonard Cohen if I had the money and could get off work. But even if I never get to meet him in person --I have had two ultra real dreams of meeting him.

Me??...40 minutes to Hamilton,15 minutes to Kitchener
(I was planning on Montreal,until the closer gigs came up).

I'll be driving from the south side of New Jersey (near Philadelphia, PA) to Montreal to catch all 3 shows. Google maps says it's aprox 550 miles and to second what mwaldman said "that it will be worth driving every mile". I also would try to follow the tour to as many east coast US dates as possible when and if any are ever announced. I hope he'll do at least a few shows in or near Philadelphia or New York City so my mom (who is also a big fan) will get to see him live again. Due to her current age and health she can't travel any real distance from home so she can't make the trip to Canada to see him. Democracy may be coming to the USA, but, is Leonard??

PS: Anyone from up in the Montreal area have any suggestions on where to stay for the shows? I've never been to Canada (aside for one night spent at Niagra Falls many years ago) so don't really have any idea what hotel rates are up there and what would be considered a reasonable rate for a room. I also heard Montreal can be a difficult city to get around in for someone who can't speak French. A friend of mine worked up there years ago (late 60's or early 70's) and said at that time there was a lot of resentment between the French and English speaking people in the city. He said this was around the time Quebec was talking about breaking away from Canada and they made French their offical first language. He said people from both sides would go around with paint cans and paint out the street signs if they were in the language they were against and it made getting around the city almost impossible. He also said if you were an American and asked for help most people would do everything they could to not help and in most cases would send you the wrong way. But like he said that was many years ago and I don't know anyone else who has been there so naturally I'm wondering if it is like that up there now? Any thoughts from anyone familar with the area would be greatly appreciated.
