Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to meet the great man himself after the concert has finished.Long shot but you never know.
Have any of you out there actually been successful in meeting him.
Interested in knowing your thoughts.

Trish.

I'm coming up to Edinburgh to see the concert. Last time I saw LC was in either 1979 or 1980 in Edinburgh when I was a student - so kind of fitting to see him there again.

Trish - if you get to see him give me a shout :) That would be a dream.

I kind of thought of finding out where he would be staying and book in there - but that thought that might be a bit like stalking so I'll just enjoy the music and then go back to my hotel.

I'm looking forward to a great night. Tried to get tickets for Manchester as well, but all sold oud out by the time I tried and I'm not paying tout prices!

some of us, including myself, met Leonard in Manchester last July at the opening night of his art show, it was well documented on this forum

as you can imagine it was pretty special for everyone and caused a lot of excitement, personally I've not been the same since, hard to describe the impact it had really

Hi Secretchord,

Jarkko has said that Leonard won't be meeting anyone or doing any meet 'n greets this time. I guess it's fair that with such a gruelling schedule, Leonard has time to rest properly between the shows. I guess he's going to have to use a lot of zen discipline!

All the best, John E

Exactly. There will be no meetups with Leonard, no backstage arrangements, and he is not going to give any interviews to media. Have a look at the hectic schedule! He will need every free moment to concentrate on the next city and concert.

It is a funny thing to meet him. I don't think I could handle it. There is something so private with what I experience with Leonard Cohen's music; so many of the words are so close to me. I am sometimes overwhelmed just listening to the music or reading the poetry to meet him would be too much. I always am alone when I listen or read I think to go and even be at a concert I am not ready for.

He is only flesh and blood, just like you and me.

Hi Trish
A number of us were very fortunate to meet him last October..it's all documented in this forum and many posted their thoughts.

I agree with Pete. I was worried about meeting someone who I had great admiration for. But I can say hand on heart he really went up in my estimations he is such a humble man and he took so much time talking to all of us individually and giving autographs and letting us take tons of photos. He really is a true gentleman.

It is amazing to read your remarks about wanting to meet Leonard Cohen and those of you who did meet him. I know that he is a real person and his humility comes through when you read about his life and see how he never gave up. You have to be truly humble to see yourself let alone forgive yourself. He communicates so much, as others have said, on so many levels that what can you say to someone like that? I wish I could write a poem (very short) that held why I even am at this sight; to describe my connection with him and then I would give it to him. Besides the regular stuff my tongue could only give to him the deepest praise which would be silence. There would be gratitude too, but the kind your whole body communicates.

How about, "Good evening, Mr. Cohen. My name is Margie, and I am a bit overwhelmed at meeting you. I fear you may have become overly accustomed to everything I might venture to say."

It is very moving to know that so many others have the same feelings about meeting the man. My own feeling after the concert last night was that on some deeper level all of us who are there meet him. Every concert is an encounter - and it is this which sets Leonard apart from other performers who put on a "show" or spectacle - and he referred to this in London last night saying "Welcome - it's good to meet here on the other side of intimacy"
If any of the band read this - you were wonderful
Leonard, we love you
